  • Follow along to this energising flow video with qigong expert Dani Cullen.

Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice that helps you connect with your body and mind through slow, gentle movements and breaths.

The practice has been used for thousands of years and is believed to improve a person’s ‘qi’, the body’s natural energy flow, or life force. Qigong (pronounced ‘chee-goong’) is aimed at strengthening and balancing your qi, allowing it to flow freely throughout your body.

In traditional Chinese medicine, it’s believed that a strong, well-balanced qi can lead to lots of different health benefits. Qigong may help improve your balance, boost your focus and, potentially, lower your risk of chronic disease. The practice also has a range of fantastic mental health benefits, helping to reduce stress and anxiety in a calm, meditative space.

The best thing about qigong is that you can do it anytime.

All you'll need is a quiet space (either inside or out) and a few tranquil minutes to unplug.

This energy shifting and releasing exercise is all about wake-and-release. It will help you move qi around your body and restore you with energy and vitality.

By waking up new energy and releasing old energy, you can become more centred in your body and mind. These movements and breaths are designed to help you open up your body to both receive and release energy.

So, jump on your mat or find a nice spot in the garden, and follow along!
