Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice that helps you connect with your body and mind through slow, gentle movements and breaths.

The practice has been used for thousands of years and is believed to improve a person’s ‘qi’, the body’s natural energy flow, or life force. Qigong (pronounced ‘chee-goong’) is aimed at strengthening and balancing your qi, allowing it to flow freely throughout your body.

In traditional Chinese medicine, it’s believed that a strong, well-balanced qi can lead to lots of different health benefits. Qigong may help improve your balance, boost your focus and, potentially, lower your risk of chronic disease. The practice also has a range of fantastic mental health benefits, helping to reduce stress and anxiety in a calm, meditative space.

The best thing about qigong is that you can do it anytime.

All you'll need is a quiet space (either inside or out) and a few tranquil minutes to unplug.

This calming flow exercise will help relax your nervous system and channel your qi into your lower belly.

For this exercise, you'll begin with your hands placed on your stomach and work towards releasing your built-up stress with deep breaths and relaxing movements. So, grab a mat and follow along with the video.
